I discovered at an early age that design and construction in any media of artwork begins with creativity. Growing up on a farm in Solano County, there were daily demands for ingenuity and functional problem solving. My father showed me how to use available materials to perform the tasks at hand; this necessary trait of fixing broken machinery, and designing new implements allowed the ranch work to continue, while at the same time allowing my ideas to blossom. Later while working on large scale construction projects, I learned valuable lessons about project deadlines, customer service, planning, implementing procedures and attention to detail. These skills are all an important part of the success of my projects then and now. These daily tasks learned on the job site sharpened my creativity and let me look “outside the box” for new ways to see our world.
In 2002, I started Ironhorse Fabrication on the foundations I had acquired. My main focus is to provide high quality product and service. I start with an idea based upon customers’ needs, and economic goals. The design and media needed for the project are derived from reviewing all aspects of the project including location, public contact, building structure, lighting, weather, as well as, safety and security issues. I utilize my skills to develop, and then execute a piece that will exceed my clients’ expectations.
Each of my projects is unique and may demand the use of diverse materials determined by the overall desired out come. I often use combination of materials to enhance the appearance of my artwork. I am equally comfortable working with copper, steel, stainless steel, brass and weathered steel. The ability to combine my past work history, knowledge and creativity and focus those strengths and energy is both rewarding and self fulfilling. The satisfied feeling that came from a job well done in the past continues to motivate my future.
